On Thursday, June 6, 2019, Chinedu Okoli of The Chinedu Okoli Foundation attended the 25th Anniversary Gala of the TIS Foundation (To Inspire Strong Families & Communities) at the Marriott Marquis in Washington D.C.
This year’s 25th Anniversary Gala celebrated 25 years community assistance by the TIS Foundation. The event honored the brilliance, fortitude, and power of female leaders and celebrated a quarter of a center in benefiting the community at large through food drives, workforce development programs, scholarship funds and more. TIS Foundation showcased esteemed guests and performers on the stage including a special musical performance by international recording artist Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour, who was joined by his special guest and protege Semah G. Weifur.
This year, because of the generous support from the D.C. community, TIS Foundation presented Chinedu Okoli and Semah G. Weifur with a large donation to the Christian Association for the Blind in Liberia.
The TIS Foundation was founded by Ogechukwu Irono who has a background in molecular biology and a Master’s in Public Administration and in International Community Development. Ending the cycle of poverty in Africa and the local D.C. community is the goal and core of TIS’s mission. TIS aims to revitalize poverty stricken communities through the delivery of essential support services, innovative educational and workforce development programs, and creative entrepreneurship opportunities to high-need families.
The event was also attended by guests such as The Honorable Karen Bass (U.S. Representative and Congressional Black Caucus Vice Chair), The Honorable Diane Edith Watson, former U.S. Representative, Kenya Pierce, co-president and COO for Inglot VB, local singer, April Sampe, Miss United States, Andromeda Peters, Real Housewives of Potomac stars Gizelle Bryant and Candiace Dillard.
